- How do teams qualify from a group?
- The top two in every group advance to the Round of 32 automatically. Because twelve groups feed a 32-team knockout round, the eight best third-placed teams across the tournament also go through, so only the team finishing fourth is certain to be eliminated.
- How are ties in a group broken?
- By goal difference first, then goals scored, then the head-to-head result between the tied teams.
- How many matches does each group play?
- Six. Every team meets each of the other three once, which makes 72 group-stage matches across the twelve groups.
